The Technology Behind Every Ritual.
Twelve distinct technologies power the LUNA'MOUR lineup. Here is what each one is, in plain language, no jargon, no overselling, just the mechanics.
LED & Infrared Light
Specific light wavelengths, red, near-infrared, blue and yellow, each interact with the skin differently and reach it at different depths. Used consistently, they may help support the look of firmer, clearer, brighter-looking skin.
Electrical Muscle Stimulation
Low-level electrical currents that engage the muscles beneath the skin. May help support a more toned, lifted-looking appearance over time, and is often paired with light therapy for a layered routine.
Radiofrequency (RF)
Targeted warmth that may help support circulation and the skin's natural firmness, often used on the body for a smoother, more contoured-looking appearance.
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)
Broad-spectrum light that targets pigment in the hair or the skin. May help address the look of dark spots and uneven tone, and is the technology behind at-home hair removal.
Vacuum Sculpting
Suction-based massage that lifts and releases the skin in slow, continuous strokes. May help support circulation and a smoother-looking surface.
Sonic Vibration
High-frequency micro-vibrations that add a tactile, spa-like layer to a routine. May help support product absorption and circulation.
Low-Level Laser
Focused, low-intensity laser light rather than broad LED. May help support the skin and scalp's natural renewal process.
Heat Therapy
Gentle, controlled warmth. May help support relaxation, circulation, and deeper product penetration, and is often paired with microcurrent in the same device.
Smart Skin Sensing
Built-in sensors that read your skin and adjust intensity in real time, so the device meets your skin where it is on the day rather than running one fixed setting.
Galvanic
A steady, low-level current used to carry water-based products further into the skin. May help enhance product absorption and leave skin looking refreshed and radiant.
Cooling Therapy
Targeted cooling, usually at the end of a session. May help soothe, refresh, and reduce the look of temporary puffiness.
Ultrasound Cavitation
Low-frequency ultrasound used on the body. May help support body contouring and a smoother-looking silhouette alongside your usual routine.

Getting started
If you have never used a beauty device before, start here.
Which device should I start with?
It depends on what you want to work on and how much time you have. Our quiz asks three questions and matches you to one device rather than selling you a routine.
If you would rather browse, most people start with a light therapy device for overall skin appearance, or a microcurrent device if firmness and definition are the priority.
Do I need a serum or gel?
For microcurrent, EMS and radiofrequency devices, yes. They need a conductive layer to work properly and to feel comfortable, and using them on dry skin is the most common reason a first session disappoints.
Light therapy devices do not need one, though clean skin helps. Suction devices are the exception in the other direction: use less product, not more, or the device grips harder than you want.
The Lumi LED Amplifier Essence is formulated as a conductive layer, so it works with LED, EMS and microcurrent devices alike.
Should I patch test?
Yes, on every device. Test a small, discreet area on the lowest setting and wait 24 hours before treating a full area. It takes one evening and it is the difference between finding out gently and finding out the hard way.
Light therapy
LED and infrared, across four wavelengths.
What do the different colours actually do?
Each wavelength is measured in nanometres, written as nm, and that number tells you how deep into the skin the light travels. Longer wavelengths reach further down. This is why our LED devices combine several rather than relying on one.
- Red, 625nm. Reaches from the surface into the mid dermis, the deepest of the four visible colours we use. May help support the look of firmness and texture.
- Yellow, 587nm. Works in the surface layer. May help support the look of tone and redness.
- Green, 525nm. Also a surface-layer wavelength. May help support an even-looking complexion.
- Blue, 465nm. The shortest and shallowest of the four, working right at the surface. May help support clearer-looking skin.
Near-infrared sits just beyond visible red and travels deepest of all, which is why it is paired with red in our masks. Red and near-infrared are also the most studied wavelengths in published light therapy research.
Can I use it every day?
Yes, within the session length your device specifies. On the *AuraLux Advanced+ that is up to 30 minutes a day. Consistency matters far more than long sessions, so a shorter session most days beats an occasional long one.
*Session length differs from device to device. Always check the manual that came with yours.
Do I need eye protection?
Follow the guidance in your device manual. Masks are designed with the eye area in mind; handheld devices should not be pointed at the eyes. With IPL, always use the eyewear supplied.
EMS and microcurrent
Gentle electrical stimulation, on the face and the body.
What does it feel like?
A light tingling or tapping, and a mild involuntary muscle movement at higher levels. It should never be painful. Start on the lowest setting and build up over several sessions rather than in one.
Who should not use EMS?
Anyone who is pregnant, has a pacemaker or another implanted electronic device, or has epilepsy should not use EMS devices. If you have any medical condition, speak to your physician before you start.
IPL and hair removal
Intense Pulsed Light therapy for hair removal and photofacials.
Is IPL permanent?
No. Results build gradually over a course of sessions and are not permanent, so maintenance sessions are part of the routine. Any brand telling you otherwise is overselling.
Will it work on my skin and hair?
IPL targets pigment, so it works best on lighter skin with dark hair. It is not suitable for very dark skin tones, or for white, grey, red or very fair hair. Check the skin tone chart in your manual before your first session.
How should I prepare?
Shave and clean the area first. Never wax, pluck or epilate, because IPL needs the hair root intact to work. Skin must be dry and free of lotions or deodorant, and never recently tanned or sunburnt.
Body devices
Belts, suction and massage.
Will a body device help me lose weight?
No. Our body devices are cosmetic devices for the look and feel of your skin and the appearance of muscle tone. They are not weight-loss devices and they are not a substitute for diet or exercise.
Why does my suction device leave marks?
Almost always because it stayed in one place too long, or because there was too much slick product on the skin so the suction gripped harder than intended. Keep the device moving in slow continuous strokes, and never hold it still on one spot.
Results and timing
Honest expectations, which is the only kind worth setting.
How long before I see results?
Results take time, and consistency is key. While every person's experience is different, published research on light-based technologies commonly evaluates visible improvements after approximately 4 to 6 weeks of consistent use. Microcurrent and EMS technologies also work best as part of a regular routine, with results building gradually over time.
You may notice your skin looking or feeling more refreshed immediately after a session, but these short-term effects are different from the more noticeable, longer-term improvements that can develop with continued use.
For the best experience, follow the recommended treatment schedule for your device and give your routine time to work.
Can I use more than one device?
Yes, and many people do, usually pairing a light therapy device with a microcurrent one. Leave a gap between them rather than stacking sessions back to back, and introduce one device at a time so you can tell what is doing what.
Before you use any device
These apply across the whole range, whatever you are using.
- Patch test on a small area and wait 24 hours before a first full session.
- Do not use over broken or irritated skin, or on areas with reduced sensation.
- Speak to your physician first if you are pregnant, have a pacemaker or other implanted device, have epilepsy, or are taking photosensitising medication.
- Use SPF daily on treated areas when using any light-based device.
- Read the manual that came with your device. The specifics differ more than you would expect.
LUNA'MOUR devices are cosmetic devices. They are not medical devices and are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. Individual results vary with skin type and consistency of use.
